OBEDIENCE ALWAYS BRINGS BLESSINGS

Date: Sunday, 07 July 2022
Venue: Mahayahay 2, Pardo Cebu City
Message: Orly Bayate – Senior Pastor of the UCIPI

Good morning church. We would like to thank the following person for the succeeding event of our 3rd church anniversary last Sunday.
I would like to inform everyone that we will be having a couple’s night every last Friday of the month. And prayer and fasting every 3rd Friday of the month.

Obedience always brings blessings.
“Our willingness and desire to be obedient to the teachings of Jesus is at the heart of our entire faith walk.”
You cannot separate faith from Obedience. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) – And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Luke 11:21 (NIV) – When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe.
Luke 11:28 (NIV) – He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.“
Obedience keeps the strongman out.
God’s simple requests often serve as stepping stones to life’s most wonderful blessings.

“I believe Christians often perceive/notice obedience to God as some test designed just to see if we’re really committed to Him. But what if it’s designed as God’s way of giving us what’s best for us?” – Groeschel
We must be obedient because we want to be – Not because someone tells us to or the bible says we must.
Obedience always brings God’s blessings

Luke 5: 1-11 (NIV) – One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. 2He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets, 3He got into one of the boats, then one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 When he had finished speaking he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water and let down the nets for a catch” 5Simon answered, “Master we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. 8When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from noon you will fish for people.” 11So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

9 Kay siya nahibulong man ugod, ug ang tanan nga mga kauban niya, tungod sa mga isda nga ilang nakuha;

1st request

Jesus wanted to use Simon (Peter’s) boat as a platform to address the multitude. It wasn’t a particularly remarkable request, but Peter’s willingness to comply to Jesus request paved the way for a life changing blessing.

What we lean here is: How important is it for us to learn to obey God in even the smallest matters,

2nd Request

The second opportunity to say Yes or No. Peter must have been tempted to decline, He was a seasoned fisherman, he caught nothing all night
Here a young teacher, a Carpenter not a fisherman asks him to go fishing again.
Notice: Luke 5: 5 (NIV) – 5Simon answered, “Master we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
Take Note: Obedience leaves the outcome to God. Here’s the point about obedience:
Luke 5:6 (NIV) – 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

A. It’s when the Information becomes Revelation and it flows into the Application

B. God always has abundance waiting to manifest in your life. As a result of Peter’s obedience, Jesus demonstrated His power and Sovereignty for all to see.

3 REASONS WHY OBEDIENCE IS CRITICAL TO THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.

I. OBEYING GOD IN SMALL MATTERS IS AN ESSENTIAL STEP TO RECEIVING GOD’S GREATEST BLESSINGS.

Psalm 128:1 (NIV) – Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him.

A. Imagine if Peter said, “No I’m tired “Please use another boat” or “It’s a waste of time we fished all night.” If he said anything other than yes- he would have missed the greatest fishing experience of his life.
B. Often our greatest blessings come as a result of our willingness to do something seemingly unimportant. What has God been asking you to do?

II. OUR OBEDIENCE ALWAYS BENEFITS OTHERS.
A. Your obedient life is not just about you, you become a channel for God to flow through.
Genesis 22:18 (NIV) – “And through your offspring, all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
Luke 5:6-7 (NIV) – 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
B. Because of Peter’s obedience when he prayed for the cripple at the temple.
Acts 3:6-7 (NIV) – 6Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7Taking him by the right hand, he help him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong.
C. You can’t hide obedience others see it and are drawn to it and desire it.

III. WHEN WE OBEY GOD WE WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED.

A. Jesus turned an empty boat into a full almost sinking boat
Joshua 1:8 (NLT) – Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
B. If you want increased favor in your life start obeying God in every area.
Proverbs 10:22 (Amp) – The blessing of the Lord brings [true] riches, and He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God].

FOR MANY, IT MAY BE EASIER SAID THAN DONE. SO HERE ARE SOME GUIDELINES:

1. Obedience is doing anything God commands you to do, regardless of the cost.
2. Your obedience guarantees that God will always respond in favor of you.
3. Promotion always follows obedience
4. Your obedience to God’s Instructions is the only proof of your love for Him.

Challenge: Can I encourage you: Just start doing those things that you already know to do. God has been calling you to lay down things that are blocking the blessings.
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) – And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
John 14:15 & 23 (NIV) – 15 ”If you love me, you will obey what I command.” 23Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching, My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

4 Continual Prayers for the Fathers

Date: June 19,2022 Sunday
Venue: Mahayahay 2, Pardo Cebu City
Message: Orly Bayate Senior Pastor of the UCIPI

Good morning Uphill church. Today is a special Day for the Fathers. Because it’s Father’s Day! Tell your brothers and sisters beside you “ HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.”
Father’s Day began in America around 1910. Most credit “Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, whose father, a Civil War veteran, raised her and her five siblings after their mother died in childbirth” for beginning its observance (“Father’s Day,” History.com).
Father’s Day was a religious holiday before being commercialized by greeting cards and gifts. It became a national holiday in 1966, and in 1972 the third Sunday of June was officially designated Father’s Day.
The Bible teaches the value of fathers. Far more than mere progenitors/ancestors fathers shape future generations and thus, nations and the world (not to mention churches). Their value cannot be overstated/exaggerated.
We thank God for the gift of godly fathers and ask Him to continue to bless us with faithful fathers.

This morning I will be sharing with you entitled “ 4 CONTINUAL PRAYER FOR THE FATHERS

1. O LORD, GIVE US FATHERS WHO WILL LISTEN.
A. We need fathers who listen first to God and hear from His Scriptures the words of wisdom needed to direct their households on the path of righteousness.
B. We pray for fathers who listen to their children to hear their hopes and dreams and to encourage their aspirations – and for fathers who hear their children’s cries for help in times of doubt and despair.
C. We pray for fathers who listen to their wives, the mothers of their children, and glean fro10 [a]Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?

She is more precious than rubies.
11 Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.m them wise counsel as a trusted companion (Prov 31:10-12).

2. O LORD, GIVE US FATHERS WHO WILL LEARN.
A. How we desperately need fathers who will learn the word of God, live it before their children and also teach it to the next generation (Psa 78:1-8)!

for I will speak to you in a parable.
I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—
3 stories we have heard and known,
stories our ancestors handed down to us.
4 We will not hide these truths from our children;
we will tell the next generation
about the glorious deeds of the LORD,
about his power and his mighty wonders.
B. We need fathers who are humble and willing to learn; who rely on God’s truth to guide them as they nurture their children in the training and admonition of the Lord

(Eph 6:4).

for I will speak to you in a parable.
I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—
3 stories we have heard and known,
stories our ancestors handed down to us.
4 We will not hide these truths from our children;
we will tell the next generation
about the glorious deeds of the LORD,
about his power and his mighty wonders.
C.Fathers are needed who will pray with Manoah, “O my Lord, teach us what we shall do for the child” (Judges 13:8).
Then Manoah prayed to the LORD, saying, “Lord, please let the man of God come back to us again and give us more instructions about this son who is to be born.”
3. O LORD, GIVE US FATHERS WHO WILL LEAD.

A. We need fathers who willingly accept their role as leaders of their families, accepting the responsibility and the sacrifice that comes with it.
B. These fathers are a blessing to their families (Eph 5:23; 6:4; 1 Tim 3:4).
Ephesians 5:23 “For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.”
1 Timothy 3:4 “ He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him.”

4. O LORD, GIVE US FATHERS WHO WILL LOVE.
A. We plead for fathers who fully love the Lord and who teach their children to love God (cf. Deut 6:4-9). 4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.[a] 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
B.We need fathers who love their children by correcting them in love
(Heb 12:5-7). 5 And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children?[a] He said,
“My child,[b] don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and don’t give up when he corrects you. 6 For the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”[c]

7 As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?

To wrap up my message,
Fathers are needed who love their children’s mothers and by that love show their children how to love their future spouses.
Faithful fathers deserve our honor every day: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mothers…that it may be well with you…” (Eph 6:1-2)
